Vivo has officially unveiled OriginOS 6, its new Android 16 platform based custom UI, launching in India and the broader global market. The major software upgrade replaces the existing FuntouchOS platform and brings various new features and a refreshed look. So here’s everything you need to know.

1. Improved UI
With OriginOS 6, Vivo aimed to improve the overall experience when interacting with the user interface. From smoother animations and more seamless transitions, the update should make your device feel faster. But it’s not just an aesthetic change, as it also brings 18.5 percent faster app launch speeds and 10.5 percent upgrade in frame rate stability. Animations are also seeing a 35 percent upgrade, along with frame rates during intense tasks. All of this is thanks to its new Origin Smooth Engine, Origin Animation, Spring Animation, Blue Transition, and other new systems.
2. Brand-New Look
Vivo has revamped the look on its latest Android custom skin, bringing new fonts, layout, material, and depth effects. The Dynamic Glow and Translucent Color is another new feature, which seems inspired by Apple’s Liquid Glass UI. Even the widgets are getting more personalization options, with the Lock Screen Grid allowing more resizing options while also overhauling the Lock Screen Grid, Home Screen Grid, and adding Flip Cards. Other notable additions include iManager, Origin Health, and Immersive Weather.
3. Deeper Focus on AI
The Vivo AI on the OriginOS 6 looks to upgrade your experience with artificial intelligence. The company has worked closely with Google to bring Gemini integration and improve existing features like Circle to Search. This also plays into the Origin Island. It works similarly to Apple’s Dynamic Island by adding a small new interactive element on the top of the display for live updates on certain actions.
Vivo AI helps improve productivity and everyday use, like with picture edition. The new AI Retouch function features AI Erase, AI Image Expander, and AI Photo Enhance to help you level up your images. Furthermore, the smart tools powered by AI also help with document handling, content creation, and faster search using features like AI Search, AI Creation, and others.
4. Upgraded Security
OriginOS 6 promises better security with the Vivo Security brand, which can safeguard your data and ensure privacy, along with full transparency and device controls. It also arrives with better charging security as well, with BlueVolt ensuring enhanced power efficiency, charging stability, and thermal management.
